A non-profit, non-governmental organization, legally licensed under number 2/2013 (April 2013), works to inspire Yemeni women in general, and Hadrami women in particular, to be strong, intelligent, and courageous through direct services and advocacy. It strives to empower women to actively participate in cultural, social, and economic development; contribute to eliminating all forms of violence and exploitation against women; achieve genuine gender equality; enable women to access healthcare and protection; work to eradicate women’s illiteracy (literary, legal, cultural, and political); empower them to enjoy equal opportunities in all fields; and contribute to creating a society conducive to women’s active participation in their own development and that of their communities. It also works to promote women’s contribution to instilling a culture of peace and tolerance within society.
The organization operates through awareness-raising services, monitoring violations, providing consultations, offering aid and grants, providing legal advocacy for women, peacebuilding, and preparing studies, research, and policy papers.
The organization possesses the capacity to influence policies, laws, and issues at the local and national levels. It has championed women’s empowerment, promoting, strengthening, and protecting women’s rights and gender equality in Yemen through legal and civic awareness campaigns, media outreach, legal research and consultation, monitoring and tracking violations of women’s rights, advocating for the reform of policies, laws, and practices related to women to align with international human rights standards, contributing to raising societal awareness of the importance of women’s education, reducing violence against women, and assisting in establishing healthcare for women and children.
